Please give me a cigarette in a smoking place

I have a new yahoo e-mail address for those of you who e-mail me from time to time. Click on the same link to get to it, it's updated. The reason I switched, I'll have you know, is that I got disgusted with my previous web mail provider (known colloquially as "The Devil") when they ran the Laura Bush ad. She had her usual stoned-seeming countenance, and was taking some really daring stance on education, like 'children should read' or something. That Laura, she's so scrappy! Always on the cutting edge of every issue, she. But my feeling is that it's bad enough that I am constantly confronted with ads on my e-mail account for either losing weight or getting some. Now this? No thank you, g'bye!

Wht's going on other than that? Well, not much. It's hard not to be spendy like I have been for the past several years, but I'm adjusting slowly. I am worrying vaguely about moving and what that will entail... I may store some of my stuff here and come and get it in shifts, rather than move everything at once. I have some time between the point when my lease starts and the point when school starts, so I'll have time to travel back and forth. And that will be good, too, because I'll be able to see my friends a few more times, I can ease into goodbye instead of just breaking with IC and trying to figure out BN all in one big swoop (does it have to be a "fell swoop"? It can just be big, right?).

I got my hair cut, but it looks the same. Just a trim, really.

I guess the plays have been eating up most of my thoughts and time. I haven't really done any research on my characters in a while, because I have so many ample opportunities to make excuses about that.

Oh, my God, I'm so boring...

Droooool....

MAo!

WOW, rehearsals are challenging. These scripts are challenging. I am SO excited to be working with the people that I am working with, I cannot tell you how great I think this is all going to be. Right now, I have to go memorize my lines, though. Many, many lines to memorize. A few more than I realized... wish me luck! Mao!

veggiewhosis

Plinko! Hooray for challenging epicureanism. Here is a link you can peruse for good foods: VegWeb! They even have a search engine where you can type in "pinto beans" or "pineapple" or whatever, and all the recipes containing this ingredient will pop up. Very useful when one has too much of something. Also the cookbook Vegan Planet has lots of good recipes (although no pictures, BAH).

I am starting my rehearsals today! YAY FOR THE KIND OF ACTING WHERE THEY PAY YOU!

this is how we do it

O.K., I had so much of the fun last weekend getting giggy with my bad guy homies, that I wet um. Now, if only the photographic evidence could be somehow repressed. Although, if someday I realize my dream and play the millennial equivalent of the role of Gabe Kotter's wisecracking spouse on what I'm sure is your favorite show for a couple of seasons and then fade into obscurity only to overdose on drugs after the police arrest me trying to freebase at, like, the millennial equivalent of Rick James's house or somebody's (the Thong Song guy, maybe?), then you all have some awesome shots you can sell to E! True Hollywood Stories of me with my dress over my head. And the voiceover will be talking about how I had hopes of embarking on a legitimate career... here she is just months before getting thrown out of her MFA program for being a drunken slut... the downward spiral had already begun...

Sincere thanks to everyone for all their hard work and planning, because I can tell you that I LOVE going to prom every year, and I love YOU GUYS, and I love also the cats and dogs that now have so much food and good care because you raised so much money and got so many donations. HOORAY FOR THE ROYAL HAWAIIANS!

I'm here for ya, sistah!

Nicole! Don't worry your head about your life. You are living in a city that is not easy to live in, you cannot be faulted for making certain concessions in order to live decently. You should be really proud of yourself! You have a reputable job that more than pays the bills doing something your not entirely unfulfilled by, which is more than most American women our age can say (certainly more than I can). And you have the drive and passion and stamina necessary to continue to follow your bliss on your own time. Girl, that's all I ever want to do. I have known all my life that I was not going to get fulfillment from what I do for money. I have just known that I will be doing something that bores me during the day so that I can afford to not live with one or the other of my parents, and then spending my evenings and weekends completely engrossed in theatre. This, to me, looks like a very happy existence compared to a LOT of other choices. There were a few reasons I decided to get the MFA: 1) because they're paying me to do it, 2) I'll have a masters just like all my grown up friends, 3) it may conceivably open some doors so I don't end up doing community theatre for the rest of my life. But there's a HUGE gap between community theatre and theatre that pays well enough to eat a can of dog food every once in a while. And I know that I will probably succeed brilliantly in that gray, unpaid, artistically-fulfilling area. And you already are doing just that, and we can be proud and happy and feel really blessed that we can look back on a life spent making art and not spent entirely playing video games. Oh, I have more to say about this, girl! I'll e-mail you.

On the other notes:
-sort of a few leads on a couple of apartments in Bloomington. I am not going to live in Normal, which is fine with me, because I am old, and Normal is kiddey-ville during the school year (Bluh). I found two efficiencies in historic homes, one for 300.00/mo, water included, and one for 350.00/mo heat and water included. Because of the limited amount of time I had to spend in BN, I saw neither of them, but both of the landpeople had audible orgasms when I mentioned that I was a masters candidate, so I have a feeling I will be renting with one of these folks. Weirdness, though; in BN they don't do August leases for efficiencies or studios. No one does. I find this odd. Everyone told me that there was nothing available at the moment, but that they would definitely have something closer to August. I guess they're all month-to-month or something. I can make the drive there and back in one day, so this shouldn't be that big of a deal, but it's still weird.

-I am so EXCITED. I met a bunch of the faculty and they seem really cool. I really like the building, it's worn and smelly in the right places (I was kind of put off by how million-dollar perfect everything was in Indiana. I like it when things are old and messy.). I'm going to have an office, I'll give you all the number and you can prank me. I'm not teaching a whole course, just a section of a huge lecture course, which is cool. I am almost all enrolled in school, and I'm going to have voice and movement and acting my first semester, plus my teaching section, plus hopefully getting into a show or two (they have a HUGE roster of shows).

-it's really HOT and DAMP here right now, and I don't like it much. I will be glad when it rains.

In One Nostril and Out the Other!

It is a lovely day outside, but I don't want to talk about that. I have two Main Ideas for this post.

First Main Idea
I want to tell you that the first time I ever did a Neti Pot was last night. What's a Neti Pot, you ask? Scroll all the way to the bottom of this link!

For the record, it's gross, and not particularly soothing, but it wasn't bad, either. It seems like Yoga people always want everything to be so soothing... twist yourself into this impossible position and isn't that so soothing? etc. I have a feeling it was good for me, though. I bought one for my mom, too. This way if she gets sick she has some recourse aside from taking more medications.

Main Idea Bee
I am going to head to Bloomington-Normal tomorrow or maybe Wednesday morning. I am going to find the best apartment EVER, for 300.00 a month, and then I'm going to make someone lease it to me, and then I'm going to move there in August. Give me some positive energy, people!

All Chickens Aside

I think of not much aside from the fact that they FOUND SOMEONE TO TAKE MY JOBBY JOB! Sigh of relief. This means that I will be free to pursue all manner of hi-jinx in Bloomington as of... eh... I think next Thursday. I found a bunch of efficiency and studio apartments for 300.00 a mo, with some and/or all utilities included. Hmm... from those prices one might infer that it sucks to live there... BUT! We are staying positive. One place I found is above a barber shop that was built in 1905. That's pretty positive.

I gotta go memorize liney-lines.

Mao!

We do not hope to be such a monkey. Please refrain from feeding us.

O.K., so this morning I'm walking to work and I see this big white puffy thing up ahead and I think it's probably a dog, and as I get closer I realize, no that's not a dog, that's a CHICKEN RUNNING AROUND LOOSE AT THE CORNER OF DODGE AND COLLEGE. So I approach with caution, noting the fact that it's butt was totally gross and it completely reinforced my decision to go vegetarian which I had of late been idly questioning. A girl walking a dog was approaching, so I ran ahead and told her to watch out for the chicken, who really was much larger than I thought a chicken would be and could probably have kicked this dog's ass. She had a cell phone and called the humane society.

So weirder still... I'm about to tell my friend Rich about the close encounter with the chicken, and I preface my story with the phrase "guess what?" and he replies "CHICKEN BUTT!" I just feel like the universe is laughing at me... it's like obviously all of these bizarre events are related somehow, but to what possible purpose??? OH, THE AGONY!!!

Thimk!

People, I'm taking the reins. I did SO many errands last night, it's not funny. I cleaned the house. I did all the dishes I had allowed to accumulate in my room. I put away my laundry. I took clothes to the dry cleaners. I returned my library books, and paid off the sizeable fines on said materials. Tonight I'm hitting the stack of mail and papers that I have allowed to accumulate. I'M GETTING ORGANIZIZED!

I like the new Blogger a lot. It's leaving Friendster in the DUST right now, I am just so miffed with Friendster. The only thing is that, obviously, privacy issues arise at times. I want to be able to upload a cute little picture and list what my sign is and all that, but I am just not ready to go public. It's a beeswax issue.

On another note - VELVETEEN! Very cute clothes in at Target. VERY. I really like them a lot. I got the blue skirt with the white stitches. Nice.

I just got the schedule for the shows I'm in this summer and it's a darn good thing that I am not working this summer because I am going to be one busy chickadee. Which will make visiting rough (theatre commitments always seem to conflict with everything). I am happy to say that I will have the weekend of prom off, though! Whew.

I think I need a vacation. I've been feeling a little overwhelmed, lately, like I'd like to just be home for a while... I'd like to sort through my stuff and see what I should keep and what I should get rid of. It's kind of lucky and interesting, I guess, that I am 30 years old and sloughing off more possessions and chachkes than I am taking on, but it's also hard to let go of certain things. No, I haven't watched my copy of Animal Crackers all year, but do I want to get rid of it??? NO! I've pared my book collection down to nothing, and I still have a large bookcase worth.

I don't know, it's so strange. When I first got here, I was all about creating a nest for myself, full of plants and books and homemade blankets, and for the last few years I've been slowly getting rid of the accumulations of a nest, and soon I'll be moving everything to a town which by all accounts is pretty gross, and attempting to carve out a nest there. Do I sound overwhelmed? I think I might be, a little. Hmm.

I'm little gay ricky!!!

Beeswax: What's Mine? What's Yours?

This is never an easy question to answer. The Native Americans believed that we do not inherit the beeswax from our ancestors, but that we borrow the beeswax from our children. Of course, the Native Americans were also apparently transfixed by shiny things. As went Manhattan, so goes my beeswax.

O.k. Friendster. What the hell is up with this site? It's a disaster! I can't even sign in half the time... and sometimes I get a message in my e-mail saying that I got a Friendster message, and then I sign in to Friendster to get it and I can't get it because my Friendster personal profile has reverted back to this saved crap from the 6th. Now when I sign in there's all this information on my profile that I totally changed ages ago! It's poo. That said, I don't want to un-sign up because I like hooking to people who are far away, and not everyone has the amazing blog stamina that I do.

O.K., so for my birthday, I want to have a giant, birthday-cake-sized, double-layer peanut butter cup. Just let your mind consider that for a moment. Unless you hate or are allergic to peanut butter or something.

Have a smell of Panda droppings. This one is very fragrant.

O.K., I always think of so many things that I want to post about and then when I'm blogging I stare blankly and cannot remember a thing I wished earlier to discuss with you good people.

Speaking of brain malfunction, I went out last night and, you know, I am actually starting to get concerned about (this is something I never really bothered thinking about before) loss of brain cells, vital gray matter, important connective somas and dendrites and all those vocabulary words that I got extra credit for in biology class when I was 14. I always took that sort of thing seriously, sure, but I never led a lifestyle fraught with as much debauchery as I do right now, and so my brain had not been concerned for itself.

I think I'm going to take it easy this evening.

My friend Sherene is leaving town, and I just think that's stupid. She should stay here because she's the coolest girl that ever lived, and if you don't believe me read her friendster profile, she's amazing. So I'll have to have one with her.

And my friend Madonna, who quite frankly lives up to her name, she's that cool, is having her birthday at the Mill, and I need to get her a beer.

What is happening to me? This time two years ago, I was a grandmotherly 28 year old making ginger tea and knitting and watching Britcoms. I'm turning into a strumpet.

wish to be frank to express everyday thanks from one's heart bottom

I'm so irresponsible! So deliciously, delightfully nogoodnikey!

I quit my job!!!!

The ad goes in the paper on Friday, and they're bound to be snowed in with applications. And I will be an ACTOR this summer!

I'm so excited!!!!

Hello Rabbi! You are my best friend.

I have been on the web all day, and I'm starting to feel like I'm on a bender. No, like the bad kind. Like I'm coming off of the evenings festivities and it's like 8 a.m. and we all know how that feels. I think I'm going to take it easy for a few days, particularly with the Friendster, which I am obsessed with now that it's not cool at all anymore.

I should eat more fruit.
