it is not sales to the minor

So, yeah. Things have calmed down somewhat (at least for now). I am now trying to seriously weigh my options and see if it wouldn't be better for me to be a girl without an MFA. This place is wearing me down on so many levels for so many reasons that I am just exhausted. For the last four years it's been upupupupupupup and now it's like I'm just spinning my wheels. Well, that's not entirely true. I really, REALLY like my voice and movement studios. I am getting a lot out of both of those situations. But my acting stuff here has been really either unchallenging or lame or challenging for all the wrong reasons (like having to argue points about professionalism with someone who shouldn't be, but clearly is, totally f-ing clueless).

Plus there is way to much drama here. I can't say much about the situation in our class. Even though no one knows about this blog, I still wouldn't risk it. Suffice it to say, THAT SUCKS, TOO.

Plus, this town is CRAAAAAAAP. Who brags about being the town in America with the most corporate chain restaurants per capita???? I mean, good God! This is nothing to brag about!!!

I'm going home to Iowa City this weekend and I am going to party down with my homies and I am going to drink homebrew and I am going to eat hippie food and I am going to dance and DJ Monk is going to be there and HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO COME BACK??? HOW???

i only wish to provide you feel tired and depressed with some strength and aspiration when you in life

I have no idea where to begin about how things are going, but suffice it to say, I should probably put the word going in quotation marks. I love to act, but I don't love drama. The question now is, I guess, do I not love drama enough to get the hell out of here before I finish my degree? This is what I'm mulling over when I'm not doing homework.

I had one of the worst weekends I've ever had, the events of which included getting my car towed, a visit to my house by the police, my car getting soda or pee or something poured all over it, and an attempted booty call at 5:30 A.M. by a drunk, drunk man. I do not love it here, for so many reasons I can barely list them all.

I am tired. I am just very, very tired.

Toilet Seat Cover: Take a Pause, then look back and reconsider your life

Teachey McTeacher just submitted her first set of Mid-Semester Grades! I have a green, old-fashioned-looking gradebook. Some people use the Excel, but NOT ME. I prefer to pen everything until I have to post it on the web.

My class is actually doing fairly well, particularly given the fact that I kind of suck at the teaching. Actually, I'm not that bad, but I'm thinking of torturing them with more in-class participation-ey crapola. This week, though, it's all review. These little ducklings will do well on their mid-term if I have anything to say about it!

I'm surprised at how much help people need constructing short essays, though. They have to write play reviews. You wouldn't think that would be too difficult... when I was a girl, you learned how to bullshit a halfway decent four-page paper, daggum! People now seem to just write lots of very enthusiastic-sounding but totally disconnected sentences. So we're going to work on structure. I'm stealing an idea from my research methodologies professor (I LOVE her class, she's just the greatest), and we're going to start having Grammar Moments at the top of every breakout session. This week I will cover the fact that titles of plays are to be italicized, not put in "quotation marks!" I'm sure it will be riveting.
