pure sandwiches for now people

Sorry I haven't posted lately but I've been getting stuff ready because for the next several weeks I am going to be in rehearsal for all night long, starting with the Tim Miller workshop and ending with the Arcadia. Plus also I am working on curriculums for possible classes to teach next semester and trying to figure out other stuff I can do for my comprehensive exams, AND getting my portfolio folder in order which is just in such a shabby state, AND ALSO listening TO RECORDS ON MY NEW RECORD PLAYER!!! Isn't it nice??? I got it at K-Mart. My friend Emily had one and I fell in love with it do I went and bought one, too. There's even a tape player in it, so I can play my new mixtape from Chops (thanks, Choppy!).

I also had a weird experience a couple of days ago. I met on the street and spoke with a hipster. I remember my friend Fezzo and I gently mocking the whole skinny-runnynosed-livejournal thing, promising to "keep in touch" by sending each other stream-of-consciousness sentences about our new ukeleles/three-speed bicycles/fingerpaintings impressed on pieces of seventies calico with old Royal typewriters and laughing like hyenas at how silly that would be. I've been out of Iowa City for a year now, though, and I've lost my sense of humor. I was COMPLETELY caught off guard and was really nervous because, humiliation of all humiliations, I hoped that I was COOL ENOUGH so that I wouldn't get a HIPSTER SNEER. I found myself saying a-blah-blah-museums-a-blah-blah-performance art (in my defense, I was postering for Tim Miller at the time)-a-blah-blah-oh, yeah I've heard your band on WESN (when I hadn't! Or at least, the memory of it wasn't very clear). I used to be cool, people.

All that is over now. I blame grad school.
