tattoo boobies!

I had the best weekend ever! Happy birthday to my friends Heather, Rian, and Emily who I had Fun Chicago Time with this weekend! Also it was fun to see Lala and Conrad!! For those of you who weren't there, I'll tell you what we did.

We drove up to Emily's house in Logan Square at the EXACT SAME TIME. And parked RIGHT BEHIND EACH OTHER. We greeted each other in the customary fashion and then went inside to meet Emily's friends from Missouri, who were lovely. Emily's house is a SHOWPLACE, it's absolutely beautiful and had the very most impressive vintage couch and loveseat set I've ever seen in my life.

Then we realized that we were all peckish and went to Taquiera Trasposada and had the biggest Mexican food we'd ever seen for almost no money at all. Although I have to say that while I was delighted at the affordability of my taco with extra guacamole and smoky salsa, I was sad to see that the cheapest cement lawn donkey they had was $12.99. I left without the donkey.

Then we went to see Loves Me, Loves Me Not, which is the latest spectacle from Red Moon Theatre and is SO COOL. It also happens to be where Emily works. The whole play took place on roofs of houses submerged in the lagoon behind the Museum of Science and Industry. Go look at the website if you don't believe me!

Then we went back to Emily's house and her friend Natalie brought over a ROBOT CAKE. I ate a spaceship made of sugar and drank some coffee because it was 11:30p.m. and these girls were just getting started. Off we drove to find the bars "Stargaze" and "Tomboy." We arrived SO SO LATE. This cat was SO sleepy, but she drank a Shirley Temple and was brave.

The music was pretty bad. It was very repetitive and there were lots of flashing lights and smoke. I tried to dance for a while but I was shy and so very sober. So eventually I took a real cool lean against a wall and stuck with that. Plus also, gay girls who don't know you're not gay too are a little intimidating (I was afraid the new puppycats would say, "Hey! If you not a puppycat, what you doing in a puppycat bar!"). It also took us forever to go because people had to fill up ENORMOUS bar tabs so they could charge their drinks. All the cat could think about was her comfy blanket back home...

Finally we left and drove back to Logan Square and had a big sleepover, and in the morning we went to Wishbone (which had a different location from what I remembered... I think this new Wishbone used to be a place called Bright Morning or something...). I had the corn cakes with sweet pepper sauce and spinach, and it was SO GOOD!

I forgot to mention that on our way to Taquiera Trasposada the day before, we saw abandoned street kitties by Emily's house. One of them had only one eye! We decided not to stop for the cats, and so assailed with guilt were we all that we checked the next morning and found that they were STILL THERE, huddled underneath the garbage cans in the alley way. So after we left Wishbone we went to the Whole Foods right there and got cat food and put it out for the kitties. They were probably about 8 weeks old. We also called Animal Control.

Then we said goodbye and drove home, and I almost got lost but it didn't matter because I found my way again.

It was really nice to get out of B-N for a while. Our class is once again ablaze with contention over something that we are totally powerless over. It's hard to argue all the time about things like this. I have, by necessity, gotten really good at standing my ground, but I have to say that it is, at times, really exhausting. So it is really good to hang out with people who aren't involved in anything ISU-ey.
