I am in Iowa City, which I now unabashedly and unqualifiedly refer to as "where I'm from" when I'm interrogated about such things. "Did you grow up there?" people ask me suspiciously. I give them a level stare in the blinkers and say "yeah, s'where I'm from!" Then they say, "You are a liar" and I say "define truth" and then they second guess themselves, saying, "wait, you're a smart ass. Maybe you are from Iowa City" and I say "Maybe I am and maybe I am!" and then I run away, laughing.
