Keep doing the thing one wants to do very hard

Yeah, so things are looking way better here. I am finally settled in, things are somewhat under control, and I have made so many new friends that feel like old friends, because of the fact that we all went through the trial by fire together. I actually really like a lot of my professors. I really love my research methodologies class, and my movement class is just totally amazing. The cool thing about ISU is that they have the grad class separated into a studio situation. It's just the six of us for movement voice and acting, for four semesters in a row. It kind of sucks that we don't work with more people on our acting (although, apparently, I am the only grad that thinks this), but I do like having all the specialized attention for voice and movement.

And I have found more cool things about B-N. I met this guy who owns a record store (it's so cool, it's called Waiting Room), and he told me about a bunch of cool things going on in the area. There's actually a LOT of restored movie theatres that show arty-farty stuff (not just the one right by my HOUSE that sells BEER. There's even a DRIVE-IN. SEX-X-Y!!!). And there's a place in Champaign that is the equivalent of Gabe's. The Decembrists are coming!

And this evening? The second in a series of Ladies Nights! All us MFA/MA/MS women get along famously, so we've decided to make chilling together a regular joint. Yep. We go see a play and then eat wine and cake somewhere (it's my house this time. I kind of burned the cake, though, so I'm going to stop somewhere and buy cookies. Wine & cookies, people, I'm all class).
