People Are So Nice!
I was downtown today, just sitting and writing in the Java House, and I had three (THREE!) satisfying conversations with total strangers! Is it going to be like this everywhere, or is Iowa City just a magic place? I mean, this girl and I started talking about the window seats being our favorite spot, and then this woman walked by with a new little, pink baby and we both said, see? That's why it's so cool here... you get to see EVERYTHING. And then I had a funny conversation about bathrooms with this French woman, and then I had a conversation about journaling as a spiritual exercise with this old guy. None of whom I'd ever met before. I think that's why I relaxed so quickly when I moved here... it's like I couldn't be alienated. I might feel a little alienated at times, but I never really was. I think I like small towns.
That said, I'm glad I have some time when I move to Bloomington to hang out and get used to the place for a while. I'm going to have to scout locations for sitting around and chatting and ingesting too much caffeine. The coolest T.A. I ever had held his office hours in the cafe at Prairie Lights... maybe I'll do that! Although I'm kind of enchanted by the idea of having an office right now...
O.K., one more thing before I stop rambling... TRY THE SHIZZOLATOR. It's under important posts>
It's BRILLIANT!
Love, K
