So I'm talking to my friend Jaret about movies and I'm getting the impression that the world is passing me by completely. Rarely have I ever actually seen a movie he refers to, and I consider myself to be fairly well-versed in the classics. When I was in high school I made a huge list of movies I needed to see from these huge books my local library had that chronicled the first 50 years of film. I'd go to my second shift factory job (a bottling factory, at which I pretended that I was Laverne and this guy Carlos was Shirley, well, I guess it was funnier if you were there) and hit Blockbuster right before it closed, grab a bunch of movies from the Classic section and stay up all night watching them. Also, an ex of mine was obsessed with movies and so we were constantly watching stuff from the library (which was really nice, actually). So I've seen lots of movies. However, in all my movie-watching, I have not seen a single episode of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. And to be honest, I kind of don't want to. Please understand me, I don't have anything against these movies at all. I don't think they're crap, I'm sure they're just great. But I just think to myself, this is going to be 13 hours of viewing movies based on books that I didn't really get into in high school? Do I want to commit to this? Well, no. No I don't. That said... do I want to see What's Up, Doc? Hell, yeah!

I've also never seen a full episode of Friends (only bits). I've never seen Sex and the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos (in spite of the fact that my mother LOVES this show), or any of the Pixar cartoon-movie things. You'd think, with 15,000 nephews, that I'd have seen more of those, but they like James Bond movies and old westerns. They're gonna grow up weird, just like their Auntie! They're going to be a little, adorable weirdo army.
